Christian was born and raised in Southern Germany. He got his Ph.D. in Physics at the Kiepenheuer Institute for Solar Physics/University of Freiburg (Germany) working on a solar chromospheric imager at the observatories on Tenerife (Spain). After that, he moved to Boulder, Colorado for a postdoc at the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and from there back to the Kiepenheuer Institute for Solar Physics, continuing to pursue his professional interests in solar instrumentation, data analysis and pipelining, and code development. He joined USRA in 2016 and is primarily working with the Solar Sounding Rocket Group at MSFC. Outside of work, he is passionate about photography and his dog Nelly.
