Dr. Kiranmayee Kilaru focuses on X-ray optics development for astronomy and non-astronomy X-ray imaging applications. She received her Ph.D. in Optical Science and Engineering from University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2010. For her PhD dissertation she worked on developing a figure correction technique to improve the imaging quality of X-ray optics. She also has MSc degree with specialization in photonics from National Institute of Technology, Warangal, India and MS degree in physics from University of Alabama in Huntsville. Prior to PhD, she worked for three years as a Design Engineer in Optics at Elico Ltd, India. After PhD, she worked as NASA Post-doctoral fellow (NPP program) for two years and then joined USRA in 2013.

Dr. Kilaru works with X-ray Astronomy group of NASA MSFC in Optics design & performance analysis, optical metrology & data analysis, optical testing & characterization, optical coatings design & development. She supports various ongoing X-ray optics development projects at NASA MSFC.
