Karen Tines

Karen Tines is the Business Manager for USRA’s Science and Technology Institute.  She ensures the cooperative agreements, grants, and contracts are managed within all funding requirements.  Ms. Tines graduated from the University of Alabama with a Masters of Business Administration in their Executive MBA program.  She has over 30 years of experience in Operations and Business Management with an extensive background in government contracting, proposal preparation, and engineering and manufacturing management, and is a licensed CPA in Alabama and Mississippi.

USRA Scientists and Engineers Contribute to NASA's Xray Polarimetry Explorer

NASA’s Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) launched successfully on December 9, 2021 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It was a “picture perfect” launch, according to Principal Investigator Dr. Martin Weisskopf of the NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center, with the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket performing nominally and nature providing ideal weather conditions.
